1821. “I’m so happy!” – Randy and Deborah from Huntsville, AL – 12/30/15 – The Palace Lawn at the Hilton Waikoloa Village (Randy’s dad grew up on the Big Island. I was so happy that he was able to return to his roots for this wedding. There is a special feeling that always hits me at the last wedding of the year. I am very thankful for God giving me this opportunity to do weddings here in Hawaii.)

1819. “Aregato” – Masanobu and Misuzu from Japan – 12/5/2015 – 15 guests at The Wedding Chapel at the Hilton Waikoloa Village (This was a Christmas gift from God! I had done the groom’s brother’s wedding 7 years ago! No one told me I had a legacy couple in the chapel. I was thrilled beyond words to see them after all these years and meet their son. Thank you for your generosity!)

I have known him most of his life. I was so thankful to get to be part of his wedding and see his family.)

1807. “Aregato” – Naoyuki and Hiromi from Japan – 9/16/15 – 8 guests at the Wedding Gazebo at the Orchid (I try to pay careful attention to the bride’s face expressions and body language so that I know how to adjust the ceremony. Hiromi seemed very regal and serious behind her veil, until we got to the part of the ceremony where she repeats after me in Japanese. When I started talking Japanese, she started laughing. I guess my Japanese was the funniest thing she ever heard.)

1801. “That was really good!” – James and Christine from Tampa, FL  – 8/20/15 – 28 guests on the Palace Lawn at the Hilton Waikoloa Village (I was so excited to be part of this wedding for a lot of weddings. I am a huge soccer fan. James has played soccer internationally for about 10 years. He is the biggest soccer player I have ever met – good fun!)

1800. “This is our first time to Hawaii. We will be back. Your ceremony was very meaningful.” – Gudjon and Lilja from London – 8/13/15 – Twenty second celebration of vows ceremony with their children at the Four Seasons Hualalai Wedding Tree (Another milestone – 1800 weddings! This was a great one. Lilja started laughing so hard she had to walk away for a moment to catch her breath. Thanks To God and all the couples who invite me into their family to celebrate!)

I had the wedding of my dreams and it was exactly what I wanted! We also gave out many copies of the ceremony to all of our family who couldn’t make it to Hawaii and everyone complimented what a beautiful job you did! Best part is that Jarrett loved Hawaii and has been talking about going back ever since! 1776. “Thank you” – Lars  and Sandra from Koln, Germany  – 5/5/15 – The Wedding Tree at the Four Seasons Hualalai (I love praying the “Our Father” with couples. For me it is the high point of the wedding ceremony. Lars and Sandra prayed the Our Father in German as I prayed in English. We stayed perfectly in sync and we all knew where we were in the prayer even though we were praying it in different languages. Another wonderful wedding moment.)

There are so many reasons why I am grateful to perform weddings on the Kona Coast. One of the reasons is that I get to work with some amazing teams. Congratulations to Debbie and Robin at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. Debbie and Robin received the circle of excellence award today (4/21/15). This is a national award and I am so excited for them. They work so hard and go the extra mile for everyone. Ladies, it is an honor for me to be on your team!

God blessed Kirk and Vikki with a really spectacular sunset for the last few photos – wow!)

The family came from the mainland to celebrate Todd’s grandma’s 93rd birthday. I love this family and it was such a delight to celebrate with them.)

1765. “Thank you” – Ron and Vanessa from Deerfield, IL –  3/31/15 – Their family joined them for a 10th Anniversary celebration of vows at the Point at the Hilton Waikoloa Village (Ron and Vanessa had honeymooned on the Big Island. You could tell how profoundly they were moved by everything.)

1764. “Thank you” – Steve and Swati from Chicago, IL – 3/30/15 – Their daughter joined them for a 19th Anniversary celebration of vows on the terrace at the Hilton Waikoloa Village Wedding Chapel (Steve and Swati were married at the Grand Staircase at the Hilton. We were so happy to welcome them back to the Big Island for the first time since their wedding!)

1763. “Aregato” –  Ryo and Megumi from Japan – 3/28/15 – 8 guests at the Hilton Waikoloa Village wedding chapel (The groom’s family all spoke English and we had a wonderful visit. The wedding coordinator needed a musician and I was able to bring Sandy who plays at our church. It was the first time Sandy has played at one of the Japanese weddings.)

My grandfather pastored 12 churches in his life time. The tenth one was in Findley, OH. My mother’s first teaching job was in Findley. So, it meant a lot to me to be with this fun family, The bride was full of positive energy. Thank you for your generosity.)

Here were a couple of things: all the guests were given matching sunglasses, when Jason and Jaime turned toward everyone for the presentation, the group all said “surprise” with their sunglasses on. After the ceremony, the immediate family went to the ocean to throw in leis to remember family members that have passed away. This was a fun wedding and a great group of people.
